Genevieve Graham All the world's a stage...

Work by Genevieve Graham

My work explores the facades in society, and how we can often hide our true passions and interests and pretend or ‘perform’ in fear of being judged by others. My metaphorical representation depicts four featured ‘performers’ and a suitcase full of suits in the foreground. This symbolises an outburst of expressive individuality that can often become lost in our society, hidden under the monotony of business suits. The bigger-than-life-size, slightly distorted figures instigate a connection with the audience, an opportunity to question the authenticity of their own individuality in the light of contemporary society’s expectations and pressures.
