A portrait of artist and Zen Buddhist Lindy Lee by Tony Costa won the 2019 Archibald Prize for portraiture. It is the first time in the prize's 98-year history that an Asian Australian has been the primary subject of the winning portrait.
Paintings by Tony Costa and portraits of Lindy Lee, herself a finalist in the 2002 Archibald, have previously appeared in the Archibald.
