Sydney International Art Series

Bringing the world’s most outstanding exhibitions to Australia, exclusively to Sydney, every summer

The 2015-16 Sydney International Art Series will showcase two inspired exhibitions – The Greats: masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland (24 October 2015 – 14 February 2016) at the Art Gallery of NSW and Grayson Perry: My Pretty Little Art Career (10 December 2015 – 1 May 2016) at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA).

The Greats: masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland comprises over 70 paintings and drawings by many of the greatest names in European art including Botticelli, Cézanne, El Greco, Gauguin, Leonardo, Monet, Poussin, Raphael, Rubens, Titian, Turner and Vermeer. Drawn from the prestigious collection of the National Galleries of Scotland, the exhibition spans a period of more than 400 years from the Renaissance to Impressionism.

The MCA exhibition Grayson Perry: My Pretty Little Art Career is the first major survey this side of the equator by internationally renowned artist and Turner Prize recipient Grayson Perry. One of the best known British artists of his generation, Perry is acclaimed for his ceramics, sculptures, drawings, prints and tapestries. With a keen eye for detail and a love of the popular and vernacular, he infuses his artworks with a sly humour and reflection on society past and present.

The Sydney International Art Series brings the world’s most outstanding exhibitions exclusively to Sydney, Australia. Created by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, the Sydney International Art Series is a signature event on the NSW Events Calendar.
