A betting agency began taking bets on the Archibald Prize. The favourite was Jun Chen ($5.50), followed by Geoffrey Dyer ($7). The winner – Marcus Wills, with his first Archibald entry – was considered a long shot, at $31.
The Packing Room Prize winner – Michael Mucci’s portrait of television host Scott Cam – was not selected by the Gallery trustees for the Archibald exhibition but was displayed nearby.
