This view is of the Main Range of the Snowy Mountains in Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales. I went there as part of a hiking team, and did the iconic 19-kilometre walk from Charlotte Pass to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko.

This particular vista of a landscape once covered by glaciers – the sweeping valley, the chilly weather, the strong breeze, the shimmering, scattered flat stones in the foreground reflecting the sunlight, and the contrast present in the scene – immediately struck a chord. The landscape made a strong impression on me, I felt an urge to attempt to capture it on canvas.
