Sun shines in the rusty morning is my response to memories of growing up on a farm in the Riverina, in south-western New South Wales. It’s a studio painting built from photographs and recollections. I’m interested in using colour, composition and gesture to describe a scene, to create a sense of place that conveys what it feels like to be in a particular landscape.
