earthenware and underglazes

42.4 x 22 cm

This Country is west of Ntaria/Hermannsburg, Northern Territory, other side of Tnyam-iparta, which is a little outstation. This is Sandhill Country. We always travel here for family picnics. We go hunting and we look for bush tucker. We take all the kids with us and teach them about Country; how to find bush tucker and how to hunt and cook goanna. We always watch all the birds eating the bush foods – ilkurta (native melon), erralunga (honey grevillea), lupa (acacia bush seed), kaltjirra and arlparrantji (bush tomatoes). We see erranta (red-tailed black cockatoo), elintja (galah) and pirlkara (crested pigeon) and all the other birds too.
