Dean Cross Untitled (landscape painting in the 21st century)
Ngunnawal ochre, binder, acrylic polymer, charcoal and oil on linen
35.6 x 46 cm
This small painting manifests thoughts on necessity and relevance; perspectives and privileges; and comprehending the difficult nuance between ownership and custodianship. It presents the landscape for what it is – a palimpsest. Our landscape is a site where histories collide in both material and immaterial ways, and the scars of these collisions can be seen and felt across our continent.
