Get in touch with your wild side through this art-making project led by Emmanuel Asante, an artist from Ghana now living in Western Sydney.

You’re invited to explore your connection to the natural world and the animals that inhabit it by taking part in a series of workshops. Each workshop will have a different focus: painting with watercolours, painting with coffee, and cardboard sculpture. Join us for one or more.

While you work, Emmanuel Asante will share stories on the significance of animals in his culture and invite you to share your own stories.

The paintings and sculptures created in these workshops will become elements of a larger art installation, which will be built on 19 May 2024 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and displayed from 2pm until 4pm.

Drop into a workshop at any time. All materials and instructions provided. All ages and skill levels are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.

This workshop is part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales program Make it May.

The event is supported by We Are Studios, a disability-led inclusive creative studio based in Western Sydney.

A Tell your tale workshop will also be held on Saturday 18 May 2024, between 10am and 2pm, at We Are Studios in Blacktown, where Emmanuel Asante is a core artist.
