John Murray Bellinger River, Thora
watercolour on paper
11 x 21 cm
This watercolour is the result of two-months’ work in Thora, NSW, painting the Bellinger River as it appeared before me. The view that I tried to capture changed throughout each day in relation to the angle of the sun and the weather. Twice the river flooded – once a large flood and one quite minor. But still the variations were confined to the variations that happen to that river, just as I passed through my own moods and issues but remained myself, perhaps both of us hardly knowing ourselves.
