The Balnaves Foundation Australian Sculpture Archive at the Art Gallery of NSW was established in 2010 through a grant for the acquisition of the archives of major Australian sculptors and to extend research in transformations in three-dimensional practice. The grant also provided for a range of living sculptors to be interviewed and for the transcripts of these interviews to form an important part of the archive.
This exhibition in the Gallery’s research library and archive showcases some of the objects, maquettes, photographs, notebooks, sketchbooks and correspondence that have been acquired over the last four years through the grant alongside complementary material from the wider Gallery archive.
