Magical realism

The notion of magical realism comes from literary studies primarily and encompasses the work of writers such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Salman Rushdie and many filmmakers. In a sense photography has always had a magical relationship to realism. However some photographers who were working throughout the 1970s developed this relationship further, blurring the borders between dream and reality, with an especially poetic subtlety.
